Day 4 - Evening Report

Its been a busy day for me so I have really not thought about food. I did have a smoothie for breakfast though and it was really good. For lunch Mark had flax seed whole wheat wraps with avocado, cucumber, romaine lettuce, radishes, tomatoes and green onion. I made a new dressing (which I will share below) and served it with baked corn tortilla chips that I made. In a bowl dice up avocado, tomato, green onion, fresh lemon and garlic with sea salt, and pepper and served it with those same homemade chips. Dinner will fun too...the recipe will also be below!

I found that studying my bible and working on a project helps to keep me from thinking of eating. I am attending a school called International School of the Word (ISOW). I am beta testing some classes for them; one of them is on Ephesian 6. As it turns out it is specifically about the Whole Armor of God; a very timely course I think. You may ask why is it timely...well, I am glad you asked! :)

As we are attempting to draw nearer to God through this fast guess who doesn't want to us to...that's right the enemy, the devil, Satan. Whatever you chose to call him he will be trying to disrupt and distract you before this fast is over; that is if you are not simply seeking to lose weight.

Like prayer and fasting go hand in hand so do distraction and disruption by the enemy. You need to enter into your fast each day remembering its important that you not only pray but that you are prepared for opposition. It requires that you put on the Whole Armor of God. Interestingly the first item to put on is a belt; the Belt of Truth. God's relationship with us is built on a foundation of Truth. We can trust that when we call on Him He will be there every time. When the enemy tries to distract and disrupt by telling you that you can't do this and/or that you will fail... tighten your Belt and tell Him to take a hike!

YUMMY ITALIAN DRESSING
1/2 cup olive oil
4 Tbl fresh lemon juice
1/4 tsp Italian herbs
1 clove minced garlic
1 tsp minced green onion
sea salt and pepper to taste
Shake well and enjoy

MEXICAN BROWN RICE
2 cups brown rice (made according to directions on container then set aside)
2 Tbs sunflower oil
1 medium onion (diced)
1 bell pepper (diced) any color
2 large carrots (diced)
1 large tomato (diced)
1 clove garlic (minced)
1 Tbs jalapeno (diced)
2 Tbs tomato paste
Sea salt and pepper to taste
In large skillet 2 Tbs of sunflower oil (or any approved hot burning oil). Add the next three items and cook gently til tender. Next add the remaining items, bring to boil remove from heat. Stir mixture into brown rice and enjoy
